Gothia Forum is a unit within the Västra Götaland region, and belongs to the Health and healthcare department at the Region Development Secretariat. Functionally, Gothia Forum is located at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, R&D.

Gothia Forum consists of four units: Research Support Office (RSO), the Clinical Trial Center (CTC), Primary Care Trial Center (PTC) and Organisational development, administration and strategic support.

Gothia Forum is the result of a collaboration between the University of Gothenburg (represented by Sahlgrenska academy), the research industry (represented by AstraZeneca, MSD, Pfizer, LIF and Swedish Medtech), Sahlgrenska University Hospital and Chalmers University of Technology.

An Advisory Board of representatives from these, and a further number of organisations, is connected to the operations. In Gothia Forum, the collaboration between research, industry and other stakeholders is open, and has a clear allocation of duties and responsibilities.
