The public and the private sector join forces on a new venture for more companies in the life sciences. A never-before-tried cooperation is expected to provide research and new jobs in connection with AstraZeneca, Mölndal, according to a press release from the Secretariat of Regional Development.

In total nearly SEK 60 million over three years will be provided to BioVentureHub at AstraZeneca research center in Mölndal. Venture capital and life science are two of the challenges for Prime Minister Stephen Löfvens Innovation Council which is to become a reality in the spring. Parties around BioVentureHub now launch a model for national mobilization in these areas. Other industries are invited to accept the challenge and follow. BioVentureHub acts as a nursery for research companies in the pharmaceutical and medical technology. AstraZeneca open up their laboratories and other research resources for small business without obtaining the rights to research results. Other parties are the Västra Götaland Region, City of Gothenburg by Business Region Göteborg, state innovation agency Vinnova and medical technology company Getinge’s principal owner Carl Bennet.
